The police incident has now been resolved, according to NW Motorway Police.North West Motorway Police have just tweeted that the incident on the motorway has been resolved.

The motorway is closed eastbound, with long tailbacks through CheshireA section of the M56 is shut following a 'serious collision'.The motorway is currently shut eastbound between junction 14, for Chester Services, and junction 12 for Runcorn.There are tailbacks building up to junction 15, for the M53, as well as long delays through Hapsford, Frodsham and Sutton Weaver.The collision took place at around 6am this morning.It is unknown if anybody has been injured at this stage.The westbound carriageway was also shut earlier, but has since re-opened.However, police have said the eastbound carriageway closure is likely to remain in place for some time.A tweet from North West Motorway Police said: "J14-12 M56 EB is closed due to a serious RTC it is likely to be closed for the next few hours.
